Dr. Ben Medrano is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in integrative psychiatry, ketamine-assisted therapy, and psychedelic harm reduction and integration. He received his MD from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he completed the Urban Underserved Track. He completed his psychiatry residency within the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. There, he worked extensively with underserved populations, including providing home-based care through the East Harlem Assertive Community Treatment program for high-risk patients.

Dr. Medrano is a graduate fellow of the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, where he completed advanced training in integrative psychiatry and the Ketamine for Medical Providers program, sponsored by the American Society of Ketamine Physicians. He trained with leading figures in ketamine-assisted therapy, including Phil Wolfson, MD, and contributed to clinician education through his work with the Ketamine Training Center.

His clinical and leadership experience includes serving as National Medical Director at Field Trip Health, one of the largest in-office ketamine-assisted therapy providers, followed by his role as Chief Medical Officer at Nue.Life, a national provider of home-based ketamine therapy and integrative mental health services. He later served as Chief Medical Officer at Innerwell, where he helped expand access to evidence-based, insurance-covered mental health care, including ketamine-assisted therapy, EMDR, and general psychiatric services for individuals with treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD. He currently supervises and advises multiple psychiatric and ketamine treatment clinics across the United States.

Dr. Medrano's work is informed by a longstanding interest in consciousness, meditation, and integrative approaches to healing. He is a graduate of Vajrayana Buddhist seminary and a meditation instructor with over 20 years of training. He continues to study and integrate psychedelic therapy within the lineage of Ralph Metzner, PhD, a pioneer in consciousness research.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Medrano is an active educator. He lectures at Naropa University and the Ketamine Training Center. He has also taught psychiatry house staff at Mount Sinai Beth Israel on mindfulness in mental health, as well as advances in psychedelic therapies, including ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and intranasal esketamine (Spravato). His work has been featured in numerous national media outlets, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, Forbes, Business Insider, Bloomberg, and others.
